Ballot 11 – Prior Equivalent Authority
April 10, 2008 by Ben WilsonBallot 11 – Prior Equivalent Authority (Passed) Motion Bruce Morton has made the following motion, and Nick Hales and Jay Schiavo have endorsed it: Motion begins The Guidelines should be amended by the following erratum. Erratum begins Add 19(c)(6): Prior Equivalent Authority. The signing authority of the Contract Signer, and/or the EV authority of the Certificate Approver, MAY be verified by relying on a demonstration of Prior Equivalent Authority. (A) Prior Equivalent Authority of a Contract Signer MAY be relied upon for confirmation or verification of the signing authority of the Contract Signer when the Contract Signer has executed a binding contract between the CA and the Applicant with a legally valid and enforceable seal or handwritten signature and only when the contract was executed more than 90 days prior to the EV certificate application.

Erratum begins Appendix F Foreign Organization Name Guidelines NOTE: This appendix is only relevant to EV applications from countries that do not have Latin character organization name registrations. More specific information for particular countries may be added to this appendix in the future. Where an EV Applicant’s organization name is not registered with a QGIS in Latin characters and the applicant’s foreign character organization name and registration have been verified with a QGIS in accordance with these Guidelines, a CA MAY include a Latin character organization name in the EV certificate.

A ballot result will be considered valid only when more than half of the number of currently active members has participated. The number of currently active members is the average number of member organizations that have participated in the previous three meetings (both teleconferences and face-to-face meetings)’”

December 15, 2007 by Ben WilsonBallot 4 – Browser Voting Rules (Passed Unanimously) Motion The following motion was made by Johnathan Nightingale and seconded by Bruce Morton and Jay Schiavo ‘The CABForum voting rules will be amended as follows: The sentence: “In order for the motion to carry, two-thirds or more of the votes cast by the permanent members in the CA category must be in favor of the motion, and half or more of the votes cast by the permanent members in the browser category must be in favor of the motion” will be replaced by the sentence: “In order for the motion to carry, two-thirds or more of the votes cast by the permanent members in the CA category must be in favor of the motion, and at least 50% plus one of the votes cast by the permanent members in the browser category must be in favor of the motion”.
